  • CQuest.Earth: Measure Carbon in Soils Worldwide

Key Facts About CQuest.Earth

01 // Our Innovation

A playground for NCS-project developers

With CQuest.Earth we offer a modest first contribution to make Earth Observation (EO) data more accessible to end-users, particularly for project developers of Nature-Climate Solutions (NCS).

The app aims to provide NCS-project developers a way to test the applicability and feasibility of remote sensing data for existing Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) and get real insights into carbon sequestration around the world.

02 // How does it work?

Remote sensing for
vegetation monitoring

In this Alpha stage, we offer project developers free and easy access to MODIS and LANDSAT datasets in order to identify degrading vs. non-degrading landscapes in their areas of interest.

As we continue to develop and improve on our regional soil carbon models these will be available on CQuest.Earth. We are currently developing algorithms for numerous soil-scapes in the Americas and will branch to other continents very soon!

03 // The Results

CQuest.Earth is born!

To offer a first glimpse into the power of Earth Observation data beyond the generation of “pretty pictures” we have provided free access to decades worth of NASA and ESA data.

A proof of concept that we look forward to developing further in the coming months to include other satellite sensors, data products, and sequestration monitoring analytics.

04 // The Technology

Powered by
Google Earth Engine

A planetary-scale tool for Earth science data & analysis, we build on Google's Earth Engine to access the most up-to-date satellite imagery and geospatial datasets.

As Dr. Andrew Steer, President and CEO of the World Resources Institute. puts it "For those who care about the future of the planet Google Earth Engine is a great blessing!".

Our Vision with CQuest.Earth

Provide for the future of carbon sequestration

Soils hold the largest portion of active carbon on earth- more than all global vegetation and atmosphere combined!

We envision that with a few clicks on the CQuest.Earth platform, we will enable communities around the world to identify, manage, and report on their sequestered carbon from the comfort of their homes.
